Watermark Cambridge in Kendall Sq. is home to 321 units and has now received  a LEED Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. All materials used at the Watermark, like flooring and paint, meet the latest LEED standards. Each apartment has an ENERGY STAR appliance package and residents receive a guide that assists them in making their own lighting and electronics purchases energy efficient.
A comprehensive program developed to divert the building’s waste stream from landfills that resulted in almost 70 percent of waste and more than 95 percent of durable goods being re-used or recycled.
Selective plumbing fixture upgrades were added, and a solar sensor was added to the drip irrigation system on Watermark’s outdoor Zen terrace garden to reduce water use.
Twining Properties also worked with utility provider NSTAR to upgrade some of the building equipment and track energy consumption on an ongoing basis. New guides to the programmable thermostats and all-in-one washer-dryers were created, and an annual Earth Day event introduces residents to new information and provides them with green cleaning supplies for their personal use.
